With the effective enforcement on June 2025, all organisations in Malaysia processing personal data for commercial transactions must register as Data Users under the PDPA 2010 (Act 709). The Personal Data Protection Department (PDP) is actively conducting compliance checks, with penalties for non-compliance. This programme will cover the 7 PDP Principles, mandatory DPO appointment, privacy notice best practices, data retention and security, and managing data breaches and data subject requests.
By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:
• Understand the core principles and legal obligations under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2010 and its latest amendments.
• Identify the roles and responsibilities of a Data Protection Officer (DPO) and understand the mandatory requirements effective June 2025.
• Implement effective privacy notices and consent practices that comply with PDPA standards.
• Apply data retention, security, and integrity measures to manage and protect personal data responsibly.
• Respond appropriately to data subject requests (DSRs) and handle data breaches in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
