On January 28, 2026, the East Asia Business Council (EABC) officially marked the handover of its Chairmanship at the 65th EABC Meeting in Manila, Philippines, with Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Soh Thian Lai, EABC Chair for 2025, handing over the Chairmanship to Mr Jay Y. Yuvalos, EABC Chair for 2026. The Philippines assumes the EABC Chairmanship for 2026, working alongside Japan as Co-chair.
In his remarks, Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Soh Thian Lai reflected on Malaysia’s Chairmanship, which focused on the key achievements including the record-breaking 2025 EABC JETRO Business Outlook Survey, strengthened engagement on supply chain resilience, digital trade facilitation and RCEP utilisation, and continued advocacy to ensure MSMEs are supported and not left behind in the sustainability transition.
