TVET Townhall 2026

The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturing (FMM) hosted a Townhall Session on the Establishment of the TVET Commission, bringing together key industry stakeholders to shape the future of Malaysia’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) landscape. FMM Vice President, Dato’ J Palaniappan, delivered the Welcome Remarks and also served as a panelist during the Forum Session on the proposed TVET Commission, underscoring FMM’s strong commitment to industry-led reform.

Organised in collaboration with the Secretariat of the National TVET Council (Majlis TVET Negara) and the Government-Industry TVET Coordination Body (GITC), the session provided manufacturers, employers and associations with a platform to engage directly on the proposed framework and enabling legislation for the Commission.

As a major employer and end-user of TVET talent, the manufacturing sector’s input is critical to ensure that the proposed Commission is practical, industry-relevant and outcome-driven, aligned with skills demand, productivity goals and Malaysia’s broader industrial and economic transformation agenda.

The Townhall facilitated constructive dialogue on the national TVET ecosystem, gathered consolidated industry feedback, and reinforced the shared objective of positioning TVET as a mainstream education and career pathway that strengthens workforce readiness nationwide.
