FMM Webinar on Practical Steps to Maximize MIDA Import Duty and Sales Tax Exemptions: Using FTAs, Drawback (Section 99, Customs Act 1967),
Schedule B (B1–B4) & AMES

Non-FZ and non-LMW manufacturers often encounter bureaucratic challenges in obtaining MIDA tax exemptions, with bank guarantees sometimes required for Customs release, impacting cash flow. This programme will show how to leverage Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to import materials, machinery, and equipment at 0% duty, and use Drawback (Section 99, Customs Act 1967) to claim duty refunds on raw materials used in exports.

Participants will also learn how to obtain sales tax exemptions under Schedule B (B1–B4) and the Approved Major Exporter Scheme (AMES) for raw materials and packaging, as well as the essential Customs procedures for smooth cargo clearance.

By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:
Utilize the FTAs to gain competitive advantages and able to tap lower tariff on imported products
Use of drawback facilities under Section 99, Customs Act 1967
Use of B1, B2, B3, B4 and AMES to obtain sales tax exemption on import/local purchase of raw materials, components, packing and packaging materials
Gain practical, step-by-step guidance to reduce costs and simplify tax exemption processes.
